About Our Charlotte Dental Office

Our staff enjoys serving families like yours, and we’re experienced in making patients comfortable from the moment they call for an appointment throughout their treatment and followup visits. Dentistry is our passion, and dentistry is all about smiling people. We can create your beautiful smile, but we also have to make you happy if you’re going to share our work with the world. In other words, we aim to give you a reason to smile!

Dr. Clark Hammock

After graduating from Reynolds High School in nearby Winston-Salem, Dr. Hammock received his undergraduate degree in biology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He then earned his DMD at Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Hammock continues to keep up to date with advanced training including laser dentistry, implant dentistry, Invisalign, and other state-of-the art techniques. He’s a member of several professional organizations and holds certification in some of the latest dental procedures.

Dr. Hammock enjoys spending time with his wife Tyler and their dog Annie. When out of the office, his hobbies include fishing, boating, golfing, and anything involving the outdoors.  Dr. Hammock is a member of Hope Community Church in Charlotte, and enjoys the fellowship of his family and friends.  He looks forward to getting to know you personally as a patient of his practice.

Heather Oakley (office manager)

Heather Oakley is a native Floridian and a recent transient to North Carolina. She attended The University of Central Florida as a Marketing major, graduating in 2002. Soon after, she transferred to Atlanta, GA as a leasing representative for a commercial developer. In 2008, Heather married Allen Oakley and followed her heart to Charlotte~ where she is enjoying the good life in the Elizabeth community. Being her first foray in the dental industry, she promises to dedicate her time and energy for the benefit of the quality patients she sees on a daily basis; while assisting the talented staff at Dr. Hammock’s office to the best of her ability.

When not in the office, Heather enjoys lazy evenings on her front porch with a good novel, attending live concerts and time on the NC coast.

Samantha McCombs (dental assistant)

Samantha McCombs (Sam) is a native North Carolinian born in Stanley, NC. She spent a majority of her childhood growing up in Gastonia where she attended North Gaston High School, graduating in 1993. Soon thereafter, she married Jamie McCombs where they now both reside in Lincolnton. Sam began her career as an office assistant specializing in data entry and accounting for a local firm in North Carolina for thirteen years. In 2006, Sam graduated from North Carolina Dental Assistant Training School, with a focus on x-ray certification. She joined Dr. Hammock’s office Spring of 2009 as a DA II and has enjoyed assisting patients with their dental care needs. She finds the end result of a healthy smile most satisfying.

When not in the office, Sam assists her husband’s painting business on a part time basis. She enjoys being outdoors and is an avid NASCAR and dirt track racing fan. Sam also appreciates time with friends and family, hiking, swimming and cooking.

Samantha Hamilton

Samantha Hamilton is originally from Mooresville, NC. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's degree in Finance in 2003. Although she had a degree in business, she felt her calling was as a dental hygienist. She went back to school and received her dental hygiene degree from CPCC and is now licensed in the state of North Carolina.

When Samantha is not at work, she is spending time with her husband Ben, and their daughter Madison. She enjoys bike rides, trips to the beach, playing with her three dogs, Jasmine, Lily, and Cooper, and spending time with her family and friends.

She loves catching up with her current patients and hopes to meet plenty of new ones along the way.

Carey Laxton (dental hygienist)

Carey Laxton is a Charlotte native. She resided in South East Charlotte and attended East Mecklenburg High School. In 2008, Carey graduated from Central Piedmont Community College, with a focus on applied Science/ Dental Hygiene. She joined Dr. Hammock’s staff as a Dental Hygienist in September 2008. Carey finds her career choice very satisfying and strives to make each patient comfortable as possible while achieving their dental care needs.

Outside of the office, Carey enjoys spending time with her husband, David, traveling and visiting with friends/family.
