Tooth-Colored Crowns

When a healthy tooth incurs damage, such as a large cavity or a fracture, Dr. Hammock may recommend a crown to repair the problem. Crowns for front teeth are made of porcelain, and in the back of the mouth, porcelain fused to metal or all metal is used to withstand intense biting pressure. When it's in your best interest, Dr. Hammock will always order a porcelain, tooth-colored crown so that you can keep your all-white smile intact.

A crown is custom made to fit atop your tooth perfectly and snugly. Once in place, the crown protects the damaged tooth and restores full function, strength, and shape.

To place a crown, expect two visits to our dental office. Your first visit will involve preparing your damaged tooth and taking an impression to send to our lab. Before you leave, we'll place a temporary on your damaged tooth. A skilled lab technician will create your crown from durable dental materials so that it will last for years. At your second appointment, Dr. Hammock will permanently affix the new restoration.
